The Public Transport Enterprise, which is Skopje`s main bus company together with the Fund for Innovation and Development and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced a public call for upgrading the transportation in the main city of North Macedonia. In September 2016, the “Skopje Bus Hackathon” was held in order for the best solution to be found. It has also joined the global initiative of Youth For Public Transport (Y4PT).

This hackathon was hugely successful with many creative IT individuals, teams and business start-ups trying to come up with the best solution. The creative minds have only 24 hours in order to innovate the software solution which will optimize the number of passengers on bus routes. That 24 hours were supported by a long time spent on mentoring sessions and should bring out the best solutions. 5 teams were laying out their solutions for transportation lanes popularization and 3 teams resolved the design of that bus station.

Our inellipse brightheads and their “Loyal Green” team were the winners of this public call. Our talented team members Goce Bogoevski, Nikola Brdaroski, Igor Georgioski and Igor Zavojchevski took their task seriously. They came up with solutions that help over popularized bus stations in a way where the passengers would be given some sort of points which can be further spent as a discount for the ticket if the passenger refuses to travel in an overcrowded bus.

The solution is a pocket friendly mobile app which will allow the passengers to manage their time by showing the time for the next bus arrival. What makes our solution special is the integration with “Social Car” which allows the user to travel with a car also in case they don't have time to wait. The Skopje Bus Hackathon contains the whole process of the solution development; from micro-management of free bus seats, to gеmifications and statistical placements and dynamic replacement of the passengers. Traveling with a bus with many free seats will mean more points for the passengers that are users of the app. Check our video here!
